During the afternoon with Mrs. Engelhardt, the children are learning the I-Plus message. This is a communication strategy designed to help children deal with conflict. It works like this: If a child feels that another child has wronged them in some way, he or she would say the child's name, look them in the eye, and say "I feel (sad, mad, hurt) when you (let them know what they did). Please, next time _________." This gives children words to say and empowers them to solve their own conflicts. The children practiced using puppets this afternoon. Here are some photos.
